Gale, part of Cengage Learning, has announced the launch of InterLink, a new technology that 
should connect current articles from newspapers, magazines, and journals with contextual reference content found within ebooks on Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL), Gale’s ebook platform. InterLink document-level hyperlinking is available free across all Gale InfoTrac periodical products, with plans to incorporate the technology into other resources. InterLink aims to enable a robust research experience for users; it hopes help libraries drive usage of their ebook collections.
InterLink provides an improved cross-search experience by leveraging Gale’s subject indexing and results-ranking algorithms to deliver hyperlinked information within the context of what the user is already reading, ensuring more relevant discovery. Unlike traditional web search engines, where clicking on a link can take research in a completely new direction, InterLink will allow users to continue their search—expanding and narrowing options—and keeps searchers within the accredited and trusted resources of the library’s holdings.
